Lafayette Office
Jack R. Bogan Jr. serves as President and Agent and joined TMA in 1969 after graduating from Purdue’s Krannert School of Management. Jack notes, “that helping our customers get through tough times” is the best part of his job.
Jack is active on the Battle Ground Public Golf Course Board (formerly Battle Ground Country Club) and Lafayette Country Club Board. In the past, he has served on the Lafayette City Board of Parks and Recreation, Tippecanoe County Area Plan Commission, Lafayette Board of Zoning Appeals, and St. Elizabeth Hospital Lay Advisory Board. Jack also has served on the Indiana Insurance School Advisory Council and Indiana Insurance Regional Advisory Council.
Jack and wife, Connie, have three children and six grand children. Jack enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, woodworking and playing golf.
Jackson W. Bogan is an agent and handles agency administration duties as TMA’s Vice President. Jackson started his career in 2001 with TMA after graduating from IU’s Kelly School of Business with a degree in Finance and Real Estate. He is also a graduate of the National Alliance for Producer Development. Jackson states, “I really enjoy working with our team and our clients. It is very rewarding when you become more to a client than just your normal insurance agent.”
Jackson is active in the community where he is a member of the Tippecanoe County Area Plan Commission, the Lafayette Board of Zoning Appeals, and Lafayette Catholic School System Ambassadors Group. Jackson and Jenny have three children Colin, Halle and Jack. Jackson spends his spare time with his family, hunting, fishing, playing some golf and doing yard work.
William J. (Bill) Bogan started his career with TMA in 2010 after graduating from Purdue in 2008 with a degree in Sales and Sales Management. Bill is a licensed property & casualty and life insurance agent. He is on the Celina Insurance and Safeco Insurance Agent Advisory Councils.
Bill comments, “That the best part of my job is working with and taking care of my customers. Our agency is truly a customer service based agency.”
Bill and his wife, Lindsey are the proud parents of two children, Max and Macy, and their dog, Oscar. When not spending time with his family, Bill enjoys fishing and trying to stay fit.
Barry D. Bruce, CIC, wears a number of hats within The Mitchell Agency. Along with his sales role, Barry serves as Corporate Treasurer. He specializes in insuring farms, schools, municipalities, electric utilities, trucking and transportation businesses.
To Barry the most important thing is learning what our customers are all about. The better he knows them, the more personally he is vested in insuring their success. He remarks, “My greatest satisfaction in business is the positive difference we make in the lives of our customers and businesses by planning for the unexpected. We are there for our customers when claims occur and when they need advice and counsel. I’m proud that we have found bright, talented employees that are interested in and have a sense of responsibility to our customers that far exceeds what the marketplace requires.”
In the community, Barry is a board member for Envirowatts and Tree Lafayette; active in multiple Livestock Associations on a state and national scale; and a member of the Wabash River Runners Club.
He enjoys landscape design and is an avid runner. Barry and his wife Jerrie, have two sons. His oldest works at Purdue and his youngest is in Medical school at the University of Wisconsin. Barry notes, “ There is nothing better than a good road trip that combines travel, running, sheep, and visiting friends that my wife and I have made in a lifetime of business and participating in livestock events.”
Matt joined the Mitchell Agency in January 2024. He has 23 years of experience as a former partner of an Independent Insurance Agency focusing on both sales production and sales leadership. As a Commercial Lines Producer, he will specialize in retaining and growing transportation risks along with other new business opportunities. Matt looks forward to serving as a trusted advisor for his clients.
Matt grew up in Lafayette, attended Central Catholic High School, and then played basketball at St. Joseph College. Following graduation in 2000, he returned to Lafayette and began his insurance career. Matt is a past recipient of the Indiana BIG I Young Agent of the Year award and has been very active in multiple risk management trade associations. As a strong believer in continuing education, Matt has completed both the Certified Insurance Counselor degree and the Certified School Risk Manager degree.
Matt and his wife, Vicki, are the parents of four children, Bobby, Joey, Kati and Sami. Matt is very active in the community serving on the board for the Lafayette Family YMCA, Lafayette Parks and Recreation and a former United Way community campaign chair. Matt spends much of his free time coaching youth sports or enjoying time at the lake.
Vince Shissler joined the Mitchell Agency in July 2016 as a Commercial Lines producer working with new and existing commercial clients. Vince graduated from Purdue in 2004 and has been involved in the insurance business since 2007. He worked in Chicago for the past 9 years where he was recognized annually since 2012 as a Five Star Chicago Magazine Insurance Producer Award recipient.
Vince remarked, “I’m excited to be back in Lafayette and closer to family. I’m also fortunate to be part of such a welcoming and respected company.”
Vince, and his wife, Gretchen, stay busy with their two children, Theodore Patrick (4) and Violet Mae (2). Vince enjoys spending time with his family and working outside on the family farm. He also likes to exercise, hike, and read. He’s a rabid Chicago Cubs, Blackhawks, Bears and Boilermaker fan!
Thomas Gothard joined the Mitchell Agency as a commercial producer in 2021. Thomas is a 2021 graduate of Indiana University where he earned a degree in management.
During the summer of 2020 Thomas worked as an intern at the Mitchell Agency where he had the opportunity to observe different aspects of the insurance business, go on sales calls, and review different policies. Thomas noted, “This was a great chance to learn more about how an independent insurance company worked and I was excited when I was asked to be part of the Mitchell Agency team.”
Thomas learned about the importance of insurance and the value it could provide a family from his father, who is a benefits consultant in Lafayette. This led to his interest in working in the insurance field.
A lifelong resident of Lafayette, Thomas enjoys playing golf (particularly the Purdue courses), cooking his favorite Italian dish, and traveling to Florida and Marco Island.
Christopher Dalton joined the Mitchell Agency team in February 2023 as a commercial lines producer with an emphasis in agriculture and transportation. Chris started in the insurance business in 2002. During this time Chris has worked in the local farming communities selling personal, auto and life insurance. Chris attended Danville Community College and Purdue University.
Chris stated that he joined TMA because he saw how “dedicated they were to servicing their clients and their reputation in the community.”
Chris and his family are long time residents of this area. Chris, his wife, Sarah, and sons, Carter and Noah, reside near Otterbein. Chris enjoys being outside fishing, playing golf, and helping to coach his son’s sports teams. He also serves on the Benton County School Board.
His family are avid Purdue sports fans and can be found tailgating with friends at each Purdue home football game.
Kym Hussong assists the account executives in selling and retaining commercial business as a Commercial Lines Account Manager. Kym has been licensed since 1991 and obtained her Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) in 2010.
When asked what makes The Mitchell Agency different, she replied, “You get a small town agency feel, in a big city, and I don’t see this philosophy changing. Our agents truly do care. They handle their customer claims, they handle many of the customer’s questions and concerns, and they visit with them at least once a year. This personal touch makes a great deal of difference to our customers.”
Kym and her husband, Mark, have two daughters, one of which just graduated from Purdue, and the other is attending Purdue. Their family enjoys boating in the summer and tailgating at Purdue games in the fall. Kym and her daughters also coach the middle school dance teams together.
Connie Richardson joined the Mitchell Agency as a Commercial Lines Account Manager in November 2014. Connie began her insurance career in 1999 specializing in long-haul trucking and she obtained her Property and Casualty License in October 1999.
What drew Connie to the Mitchell Agency was its focus on small, hometown values. She states, “They understand the importance of really knowing their clients, not just the professional aspect, but the personal aspect as well.“ Connie also notes that she enjoys the ever changing insurance business and the need to be continually learning in order to be a better advocate for her clients.
Connie is an avid sports fan, especially football. She tries to attend all Purdue home football games with her family and friends. She does admit, though, “There is nothing like an afternoon on the golf course.”
Julie R. Anwander is an account manager for our commercial line accounts. She has been with TMA since 2000 and has 27 years of insurance experience. She has continued to take numerous insurance industry classes to stay on top of changes in the industry.
During her time at The Mitchell Agency, Julie says she appreciates the loyalty and consideration TMA gives to its customers and employees. This has allowed TMA to acquire the reputation of one of the best agencies in the industry.
Julie is married with three children and is excited with the arrival of their first grandson. She stays active spending time with family, attending sporting events, and reading.
Dwayne Goad is a Commercial Lines Account Manager who joined the Mitchell Agency in August 2020. For the past 15 years Dwayne was with an agency in Fort Wayne where he primarily worked in commercial trucking. He has been a licensed agent since 2001. Dwayne is excited to extend the family atmosphere at the Mitchell Agency to new and current clients.
Dwayne was born and raised in Lafayette and is a graduate of Purdue University. He is grateful that the Mitchell Agency has allowed him and his family to relocate to the Lafayette area where they have many friends and a large family. Dwayne, and his wife, Brandy, have two daughters, Caroline and Audrey.
A lifelong Purdue fan for any and all sports, Dwayne also cheers on the Cincinnati Reds and follows the Indy Car circuit. He has coached his daughter’s softball teams over the years and enjoys going to watch his oldest daughter dance at Ball State.
Dwayne has served on the board of Oak Hill Farm which offers therapeutic horseback riding.
Amanda Haynes is an account manager for our commercial and farm accounts. She has been in the insurance industry since 2011 and joined the Mitchell Agency in 2021.
Amanda grew up in central Illinois and attended Western Illinois University. She began her insurance career working for an independent agency in Illinois. Following her move to Lafayette in 2014, she went to work for another Lafayette area independent insurance agency for 7 years, before moving to the Mitchell Agency.
Amanda and her husband, David, (along with their two dogs and a cat) have enjoyed their move to Lafayette and have become big Purdue Boilermaker fans. They love to take road trips to different parts of the country and Canada. As a self-proclaimed “foodie” Amanda enjoys cooking meals with her husband and trying out new foods and restaurants.
Stephanie Mears is a personal lines account manager that works closely with our clients on auto and home policy questions. This includes helping to process claims and policy changes, and setting up new accounts and renewals. Stephanie has been in the insurance industry for over 20 years and moved to TMA in March 2019. She is excited to work with her new clients and assist them in any way she can.
Stephanie, her husband, Jeremie, and their two children, Reed and Madyson, live outside of Monticello where Stephanie enjoys working in the garden, helping with her children’s 4H projects, and spending time with her large extended family.
Heather joined the Mitchell Agency in October 2023 as a Personal Lines Account Manager. Heather comes to TMA with 22 years of insurance industry experience working for two other local companies. Prior to her career in insurance, she worked for a local manufacturer in a variety of business and office management roles. Heather is a graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University.
Being part of a community-oriented agency with a family atmosphere is what attracted Heather to TMA.
Heather and her husband, Troy, have two children, two granddaughters, two dogs and a hedgehog named Oliver. They enjoy traveling to fun destinations in the Caribbean, Mexico and Tennessee. A native of Lafayette, Heather and her family currently reside in Brookston.
