Why We Need to Support Local Businesses<\/span>
\n<\/strong>Local businesses are essential for our economy. They bring growth and innovation to our communities. They provide employment and create entrepreneurship opportunities and support the local economy, community and neighborhoods. They are what make our towns special and unique.<\/p>\n

So during this exceptionally trying time we\u2019d encourage everyone to \u201cthink local\u201d and do what you can to keep our local economy strong.\u00a0 Here are a few suggestions.<\/p>\n

Shop Local<\/span>
\n<\/strong>Consider shopping at a local business instead of a big box store. This includes shopping online if your favorite local business has a website, you’ll still be able to get great discounts from them (click here<\/a> for more info).<\/p>\n

Order Takeout\u00a0<\/span>
\n<\/strong>Ordering to go is a great way to enjoy the things you love while adhering to social distancing guidelines. Consider ordering from your favorite restaurant at least once a week. Post the menus of your favorite places to eat on your Facebook and Instagram pages to remind others to get out and enjoy them as well.<\/p>\n

Take Advantage of Local Deliveries<\/strong><\/span>
\nThere are other businesses in town that will deliver their products right to your door.\u00a0 This includes your local florist, dry cleaner and bookstore. Others are setting up curbside pickup at their locations to make it safe and easy to get what you need.<\/p>\n

Buy Gift Cards\u00a0<\/span>
\n<\/strong>Consider buying a gift card for your favorite restaurants, stores, hair salons, spas, childcare providers\u00a0 and home improvement store to use when we are able to get out more. Buying gift cards helps with cash flow during this slowdown in business.<\/p>\n

Check for Online Services<\/strong><\/span>
\nMany of our local businesses where possible are now providing their services online. Personal trainers, therapists, tutors, coaches, financial planners, lawyers, music classes for kids and piano lessons are happening through videos or online conferencing. On the other hand, if you’re a business owner, you can reach out to more audience online by seeking out services from professionals like the ones from https:\/\/www.func.media\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Continue Memberships<\/span>
\n<\/strong>Do you or your kids take fitness, yoga or martial arts classes? If you have the means, continue to pay for your regularly scheduled attendance. If you or your child has already paid for a class that was cancelled, instead of a refund, donate that lost money to the organization.<\/p>\n

Be Patient, Be Kind<\/span>
\n<\/strong>Let\u2019s not forget there are those who are working to make sure shelves are stocked and we can get the essential items we need. Be patient with changing hours, be kind to the people who are helping you, and be generous with your tips\u2014even on takeout orders.<\/p>\n

When We Go Back to Work<\/span>
\n<\/strong>At some point soon, we all hope, many of our local businesses will be able to reopen. It will be important that we all continue to support our local economy as it starts to recover from a period of lost sales.
